Listen to Bardo from four piece instrumentalists A Talk In The Dark

A Talk In The Dark are an instrumental 4 piece, all from Strabane but currently residing in Sligo / Meath / Strabane. Formed in lockdown #1 as a way for old friends to begin collaborating again, the positive reaction to debut 4 track EP convinced the act to write and record 8 track debut album. The album is due for release (digitally and on limited 12″ vinyl) September 2021.

Bardo, featuring the vocals of Strabane born / Edinburgh based Gaze is Ghost, is the lead single from upcoming debut album “Look To The Clouds”. Clocking in at just over 2 minutes, it is the shortest track from the album and the only with vocals. Bardo is an ethereal, haunting track inspired by the sounds of Tori Amos, Fever Ray, Nine Inch Nails.

Debut album Look To The Clouds is a tribute to friends and family that have passed, an 8 track journey depicting an interpretation of a kind of death journey. Bardo itself is a key track to this representation, marking the transition between life and death. Bardo refers to the intermittent state between life and death in Buddishm, before rebirth. The lyrics are built around a phrase from the section on death in The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran, that idea of melting into the sun.
